Frank Dermody received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Columbia University and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington. Representative Dermody worked as an Assistant Public Defender and as Assistant District Attorney in Allegheny County for five years.  He served as the District Justice for Oakmont and Verona and was Legal Advisor to Allegheny County’s 55 District Justices in 1989-1990.  He was a former instructor at the Community College of Allegheny County and former faculty member, PA Bar Institute for Continuing Legal Education.  He serves on the Boards of the Greater Pittsburgh Convention & Visitors Bureau and Pittsburgh Children’s Museum. He was elected to the House of Representatives (Allegheny County, 33rd District), November 6, 1990, and serves as Majority Caucus Secretary.  He was appointed to the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing in January 1991, and has served as Chair of the Commission since October 1997.  He is married to Debra Hewetson, has two children, Frank, Cara and resides in Oakmont.
