

Judge Woelfel was appointed to the Commission on April 27, 2009 by Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille. He is a member of the Commission's Research Committee and is co-chair of the Sentencing/Re-Sentencing Work Group. He received a B.S. degree in Community Development from The Pennsylvania State University (1972), and a J.D. degree from Temple University School of Law (1976).
Following more than 14 years in private practice, Judge Woelfel was appointed by Governor Robert P. Casey in October 1990 to the Court of Common Pleas of the 17th Judicial District, was elected to a ten-year term in an unopposed election in 1991, and was retained for a second term in 2001.
Judge Woelfel is a member of the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and is a member of the Board of Directors on the Snyder County Libraries, Inc. His past community service includes leadership roles in many organizations, including the Central Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce; Selinsgrove Projects, Inc.; Snyder County Day Care Center, Inc.; Snyder County Advisory Network; and Susquehanna Legal Services.
