This seminar will include a comprehensive explanation of the sentencing guidelines and focus extensively on the 8th Edition of Sentencing and Resentencing Guidelines. Specific topics will include sentencing levels, offense gravity scores, prior record scores, prior offense groups, and recommendations. This seminar will also include example cases and discussion of SGS Web to assist in developing a deeper understanding of the framework of the sentencing guidelines, as well as the practical application of its policies. This seminar is approved for Continuing Judicial Education (CJE) and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits.

8th Edition Sentencing Guideline Foundations Target Audience

Individuals can register for this seminar and may also register to attend Sentencing Fundamentals. Both the Sentencing Fundamentals and Sentencing Guideline Foundations Seminars are intended for individuals who need to be familiar with, and understand, general sentencing structures and statutes and for those required to calculate the sentencing guidelines. While these are fundamental seminars, the seminars could serve as a review for individuals who have not taken a sentencing seminar recently.
