April Legislative Lunch and Learn: Recent Appellate Decisions and Emerging Issues Under Act 44
This session will provide an overview of recent appellate court decisions interpreting and applying Act 44 of 2023, Pennsylvania’s probation reform legislation. Staff will highlight key rulings that address the scope of court authority, the use of sanctions for technical violations, and evolving practices in probation revocation proceedings. In addition, the session will include an update on the recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision in Commonwealth v. Lee.
The discussion is designed to provide legislators and staff with a practical understanding of how Act 44 is being applied in the courts, emerging legal considerations, and areas to monitor for future policy development.
