Pennsylvania Crimes Code Chapter 27 (Assault Offenses) And Domestic Violence Sentencing and Risk Assessment
This one-hour session will provide an overview of assault-related offenses (Title 18 Chapter 27), highlight statewide aggregate sentencing data, discuss the Commission on Sentencing’s Domestic Violence Enhancement (§ 9720.8) applicable within Pennsylvania’s Sentencing Guidelines, and lastly, discuss past efforts by the Commission to adopt and promote the use of a pre-trial risk assessment for individuals arrested under Title 18 Section 2711 (probable cause arrests for domestic violence cases). Staff will discuss sentencing outcomes and provide policy insights in the development, adoption, and implementation of these policies.
