Biography:

Judge Craig A. Dally was appointed to the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing on March 22, 2019, by Chief Justice Thomas G. Saylor.

Judge Dally received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business from Lafayette College in 1978 and a J.D. degree in 1988 from Villanova University School of Law.

Following graduation from law school, Judge Dally was a partner in the law firm of Teel, Stettz, Shimer & DiGiacomo Ltd., and was a partner in the successor law firm of Pierce & Dally, LLP, in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

Judge Dally is a member of the Pennsylvania and Northampton County Bar Associations, and was admitted to practice before all the Courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the United States Supreme Court.

In November of 1996, Judge Dally was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to represent the 138th Legislative District in Northampton County, and was re-elected to six consecutive terms, with his service concluding on January 4, 2010. During his tenure, he served as Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. He also served on the Judiciary, Rules, Professional Licensure and Liquor Control Committees, and was on the Board of Directors of Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. He was Vice President of Pennsylvania Public School Financing Authority and served as Vice President of Pennsylvania Higher Education Financing Authority. In 2001 and 2008, Judge Dally was named Legislator of the Year by the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association. He was recognized by the Big Brothers Big Sisters State Association of Pennsylvania for outstanding support of youth mentoring, and was named the 2009 Legislative Champion by the Pennsylvania State Alliance of YMCAs.

On November 3, 2009, Judge Dally was elected to a 10-year term as a trial court judge on the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas, and he began his service as judge on January 4, 2010. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, and serves on the Legislative and Executive Committees. Judge Dally is also the judicial representative on the Northampton County Criminal Justice Advisory Board. Judge Dally is the founder of the Northampton County Drug Court program, and serves as the Administrative Judge of Problem Solving Courts, overseeing the Drug and Mental Health Courts.

Judge Dally is often called upon for speaking engagements at area schools and to speak at programs presented by various community-minded service organizations regarding addiction and opioid awareness. Active in service to the community, Judge Dally serves on Church Council at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church; on the Board of Directors of The Courtney Anne Diacont Memorial Foundation; on the Board of Directors of Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation, and is a founding director of the Slate Belt YMCA.

His past community service includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Nazareth YMCA, completing a term as President, and serving on the Board of Directors of Moravian Hall Square Retirement Community. He also previously served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley.

He resides in Nazareth with his wife, Ann, who is a practicing registered nurse. They have two grown daughters.
