Biography:

Rick Krajewski is a criminal justice organizer and State Representative for the 188th district, covering parts of West and Southwest Philadelphia. Rep. Rick has lived in West Philadelphia for his entire adult life and graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was elected to the State House in 2020.

Rep. Rick grew up in a neighborhood devastated by a broken criminal justice system and the war on drugs that impacted his own family. He has seen first-hand how the justice system can impact families and the consequences of having a loved one incarcerated. After graduating from University of Pennsylvania and spending time in schools and communities across Philadelphia, Rep. Krajewski began organizing to change the justice system in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.

In 2016 he began working with local grassroots progressive organization Reclaim Philadelphia as the Lead Mass Liberation Organizer and in 2017 was the West Philadelphia Field Organizer to elect Larry Krasner as District Attorney of Philadelphia. Later that year Rep. Rick was a part of launching a program called participatory defense to create a community support network for people going through the criminal justice and trial system. This program has continued to grow with several hubs now functioning across Philadelphia, with Krajewski starting one in the Kingsessing neighborhood of the 188th. In 2019 Rep. Rick had a leading role in starting the Judge Accountability Table, a coalition of over 15 community organizations that organized unprecedented forums for the public to learn about prospective judicial candidates, bringing a new level of education and participation to voters who typically do not engage with judicial elections.

Rep. Krajewski was elected to the State Legislature in 2020 and currently serves on the Environmental Resources and Energy, Health, and Urban Affairs Committees. In his free time, he is a woodworker, and you can find him riding his bicycle around West Philadelphia.
