Biography:
Tim Bonner was first elected in 2020 to serve the residents of the 17th legislative district (Mercer and Butler Counties) in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He now serves on the Judiciary, Ethics, Health and State Government committees as well as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Hospital Facilities.
Mr. Bonner attended Westminster College and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in political science. While at Westminster, he was elected President of the student body and was subsequently elected President of the Alumni Association. While an undergraduate, Mr. Bonner also attended American University, and worked in the United States Senate, and attended Drew University and studied at the United Nations.
Following graduation from Westminster, Mr. Bonner attended the University of Notre Dame Law School and was chosen to serve on the Law Review. Following graduation from Notre Dame, Mr. Bonner returned to Mercer County and joined a Grove City law firm. Mr. Bonner’s practice consisted of serving Grove City College as General Counsel, and solicitor for Mercer County, Grove City, Sandy Lake and Slippery Rock boroughs, and the Slippery Rock Area School District, among other governmental agencies, as well as serving residents of western Pennsylvania in the areas of litigation, real estate, business transactions and estate planning. Mr. Bonner also taught law and government at Grove City College.
During his legal career, Mr. Bonner served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Mercer County as a prosecutor for 18 years handling murder and felony cases. Mr. Bonner also served as Chairman of a Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Hearing Committee overseeing and deciding cases involving allegations of attorney misconduct.
During his career, Mr. Bonner also served on many community boards including the Grove City Medical Center, Allegheny Health Network, UPMC, Grove City United Way, Grove City Chamber of Commerce, the Grove City Revitalization Corporation and the Grove City Health Foundation. He has also served as a Grove City Little League manager for 20 years and was President of the Mercer County Bar Association. He was chosen as the Grove City Chamber of Commerce Person of the Year in 2005 and the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year in 2019. Mr. Bonner is also an Elder in the East Main Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Bonner is honored to serve as a member of the Pennsylvania Sentencing Commission having been appointed by the former Speaker of the House, Bryan Cutler.
